Horizon Science Academy Youngstown
Founded in 2010, Horizon Science Academy Youngstown is a K–8 public charter school serving about 390 students with a strong focus on math, science, and technology. The school fosters a diverse, inclusive environment where students grow into confident problem solvers and ethical leaders prepared for future academic and career success. Built on a culture of high expectations and shared accountability among students, staff, and families, the school consistently promotes strong achievement. It is operated by Concept Schools, a nonprofit charter organization known for developing high-quality, effective learning environments across the Midwest.
Our Mission
At HSA Youngstown, our mission is simple: To foster an environment of inquiry and a love of learning so students are prepared to thrive in a STEM-focused college and world.
We have a culture built on a common set of values, student, teacher, and parent accountability, and high expectations which result in high levels of student achievement. Our administrators, teachers and families have high expectations of our students and students have high expectations of their teachers.

Concept Model
HSA Youngstown is managed by Concept Schools, an award-winning charter management organization that assists over 40 schools across the Midwest. Since 1999, Concept has built a reputation for providing a wide array of services for its network of schools, including its STEM-focused curricula that has put students in a position to succeed after they graduate high school. It has been around almost as long as the charter school movement and has been a great partner in helping HSA Youngstown get to the point it is at today.
