HSAY had an assembly today remembering and reflecting back on the tragic events of 9/11. At 9:30 this morning all grades gathered in the gymnasium where everyone said the pledge of allegiance together as a school. Our 4th and 5th grade students put on a short concert, while three of our eighth grade students reflected back on that horrible day. Brooklyn Bare, Serenity Kitchen and Jose Taveras did a wonderful job reading their 9/11 reflections to the student body while everyone listened intently. Tears flowed as students watched images flash across the screen of that horrendous day in history. After the assembly was over teachers were asked to discuss the history of 9/11 with their students though out the day. September 11, 2001 was a day that changed our world forever. As a school, we believe that our students should be aware of that history as well as how it changed their future.
