Horizon Science Academy Youngstown is hard at work to provide an excellent education for those students K-8 who have been entrusted to us, and we are happy to announce that the hard work has paid off! We have received our scores from the Ohio Department of Education, and we have scored a “B”.
Our score is two grades higher than last year. This is the highest score that a community school has received in our area, and it puts our school in line with the best public schools in Mahoning and surrounding counties.
Mr. Kapki, our principal was interviewed recently regarding our grade by our local newspaper:
“Mr.Kapki said the school has been having teacher-based meetings weekly for the last several years, analyzing data and working to find ways to better serve its students. ‘We are doing tutoring in math and reading at least twice a week’ Kapki said. ‘We are constantly telling our students they can achieve whatever their goals are with hard work and support. I believe they know we care about them and their futures.’” -Vindicator 9/23/19
